Every chicken counts
When choosing chicken from a Scandi Standard company, our consumers shall feel comfortable we have done our best to take good care of the birds.
Working to ensure animal welfare and healthy chickens is a very important part of our business. For ethical reasons as this is what we and our consumers expect from ourselves, but also because it is directly linked to food quality and safety, resource efficiency – and profitability. We know only healthy chickens grow in a good way!
Our starting point is that each and every chicken shall be treated respectfully and taken good care of, all the way from hatch to plate. In our work we focus on how the chickens are bred and raised, the quality of the chicken houses as well as of the feed they are given, and of course about the way they are transported.
We only work with carefully selected growers in each country, and set strict requirements based on a Nordic platform for raising chicken. The health of chicken flocks is monitored on a daily basis and measured using a number of key parameters and indicators.
The requirements for the chicken houses include, for example, that the chickens must be able to move around freely. There are also clear requirements in place for heating, lighting, ventilation, bedding and equipment for feed and water. No growth hormones are being used. Antibiotics or any other kind of medicine may only be given to sick animals under supervision of a veterinarian.
