Climate goal in line with the Paris agreement

We take the climate issue seriously and are committed to do our part in reducing emissions. In line with the Paris Agreement and the 1.5 degree goal, we have set the target to halve our climate impacting emissions every 10 years, with the base year being 2016.

Until today this measurable target and our reported CO2 data include energy use at our plants (scope 1 and 2) as well as distribution transports and is measured in relation to the size of the operations (g CO2e per kg product). We also monitor our climate footprint in absolute figures.

Our work and actions to reduce climate impact covers every stage in our value chain. Looking at the entire lifecycle, the cultivation and production of feed along with the breeding of chickens account for the major part our total climate footprint.  We focus on quality, resource efficiency and minimized waste, from hatching to plate, to make our chicken as climate-friendly as possible. Developing feed alternatives from local ingredients, improving routines for minimizing food waste in production, smarter packaging and information to consumers on how to take care of the products.  

Carbon dioxide

The diagrams display energy use (electricity and heat), CO2-emissions stemming
from energy use per kg chicken product and water use. Reported energy
and emission data cover the following facilities: Aars, Farre, Valla, Lieto, Stokke,
Jaeren and Manor Farm, together accounting for approximately 95 percent of
Scandi Standard’s total production 2019. For water use, reported data for 2017
is without Manor Farm.

Developing climate risk analysis and climate reporting
We continue developing our climate work and reporting. In 2020 we will report to CDP for the whole Group, including description of our company’s identified climate-related risks and opportunities. We also work to further develop data, for setting sub-targets and to provide product-specific carbon footprints.
